Only Have 10 Minutes? Arrive in Style with Our Favorite Easy Holiday Hairstyles for 2019
This is a big year for holiday parties. Not only are we preparing to ring in a new decade, but the hair and beauty trends are just too much fun to ignore.
At New York Fashion Week this year, we saw some classic winter looks and some sparkly new ones too. Fortunately, all of these styles only take about 10 minutes. We’re serious.
With so many holiday parties, keeping your preparation time to a minimum can be a life saver, but you shouldn’t have to skimp on trends just to make it to the party on time.
While we still fully support your right to be fashionably late, no one wants to spend an hour on their hair when cocktails and cookies are waiting!
That’s why we have compiled our favorite low-maintenance styles that we spotted (and created) on the runway this fall. You can never go wrong with these go-to styles that look timelessly chic and take less than 10 minutes to create.
Easy Holiday Hairstyles You’ll Want to Wear Well After The Ball Drops.
There’s no going wrong with a classic chignon. There are dozens of variations of the chignon, so you can customize this simple look to compliment your style. We’re currently in love with dual textures, so this slicked back style with a teased out knot is a subtly rock n roll variation of the classic do. Pair it with a bold eyeliner or crimson lip shade, and you’re out the door in minutes.
The Sleek Low Ponytail
The holidays bring out the glamorous side in all of us, but wear too many trends at once and you could be confused with a Vegas showgirl. A simple and understated ponytail can move mountains when balanced with a bold dress or glittery eyelids. If you’re planning on choosing a statement beauty fashion trend, a sleek ponytail leaves room to play without going overboard.
Update a low ponytail with one extra step and you have sleek wrapped ponytail. It’s chic, it’s simple, and yet it can completely transform your look. Whether you choose to wrap it with a piece of your own hair or with ribbon or string, the wrapped ponytail is a festive upgrade to the traditional ponytail and inventive way to hide that hair band!
Braids Cascading to the Side
Braids are incredibly popular this year. We saw them on every runway at New York Fashion Week. Some braids can be time-consuming — like the braided crown Alicia Keys wore to NYFW Spring 2020 back in September — but they don’t have to be. If you add a small crown braid or a side braid, you can make a major impact with minimal effort.
This season, we’re loving the loose crown braid that cascades down to the side. Use pins or secure it with an elastic band at the base of the head toward your favored side. In 10 minutes you can have an effortlessly romantic look. We recommend lightly curling your hair or receiving a blow out to take this look to the next level.
The Chinese Staircase Braid
Over the last couple of years, the Chinese staircase braid has seen a little more publicity in formal fashion–in fact we implemented this royal-worthy look at New York Fashion Week this year. While the Chinese staircase braid may look intricate, it’s actually pretty simple to execute. Try this modified Chinese staircase braid Tres presented at New York Fashion Week. We love this style because you don’t have to commit to the full braid. Just a few quick twists and let the rest flow in the ponytail.
High Textured Ponytail
Take a note from Ariana Grande and opt for the glamorous and simple high ponytail. If you know you won’t have much time to get ready for that evening party right after work, make sure to straighten your hair the night before so you can quickly run through your hair for touch ups before positioning your pony.
Low Maintenance Textures
If you have been blessed by the fashion gods with luxurious textured hair, then rock it this holiday season. If you don’t have naturally textured hair, not to worry. Experiment with TEXTURIZA™ Texturizer Spray by UNITE. We love this product because it provides just the right volume, it’s workable and it won’t leave your hair looking like a sticky statue.
Bedazzled dos are back! Have a little fun with your traditional style and add some hair jewels, accessories or hair jewelry. At New York Fashion Week this year, we played with jewels and charms. Whether you’re more of a minimalist or prepared to take this trend head on, jewels are a great way to experiment with a new, flashy trend without too much effort.
